Root Galaxy Note 3 LTE N9005 on XXUDMJ7 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware

Yesterday I showed you how manually update the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE device with the latest Android 4.3 XXUDMJ7 OTA Update firmware and, now, I will show you how to root it during this step by step instructional guide.

Prerequisites:

• This step by step rooting tutorial is exclusively for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE device model number N9005. Do not use this article and the files listed here for any other incorrect device you can easily brick it.
• Disable all security programs from your computer, programs such as antivirus, firewall, or antimalware programs. This kind of software can interfere with the root process and can interrupt the same.
• Disable or uninstall the KIES program before starting the rooting process.
• Download and install the Samsung USB drivers for your Galaxy Note 3 LTE device from here.

How to root Android 4.3 XXUDMJ7 Jelly Bean for Galaxy Note 3 LTE N9005:

1. First download the CF Auto Root zip file from here and save it to the PC.
2. Now, extract the downloaded contents of the zip file and save its content on your PC’s desktop folder.
3. Next, download the ODIN 3 v3.07 from here, save it in your PC and extract the zip files on your computer.
4. Turn off the smartphone.
5. Boot the Note 3 LTE device into Download Mode, to do this press and keep holding the Volume Down, Home simultaneous and release all the buttons when a Warning! Message will be displayed, then press the Volume Up button to load the Download Mode Menu.
6. Now, open the folder where you extracted the ODIN zip file and launch the Odin v3.07. exe file on your computer.
7. Next, connect the Galaxy Note 3 LTE device with your PC using the USB cable.
8. If the ODIN application doesn’t recognize the Note 3 device then you need to reinstall the USB drivers once again to your PC, and then repeat the entire step by step root procedure from beginning.
9. Now, in ODIN application click the PDA button and then browse your computer contents for the CF-Auto-Root tar.md5 file.
10. Load the CF-Auto-Root tar.md5 file in ODIN application.
11. Make sure that the Re-Partition option is disabled and do not make any other default settings to ODIN.
12. Next, click START button from ODIN to start the rooting process.
13. When the root process is done, ODIN software will say ‘PASS’ message and then the Galaxy Note 3 LTE device will get an automatically reboot in normal mode.
14. Now, disconnect the smartphone from computer by removing the USB cable when the device will display the Samsung boot animation logo.
15. When the device will enter for the first time into normal mode you can take control over your smartphone.

Troubleshooting:

If the ODIN application doesn’t complete the root process, the Galaxy Note 3 LTE enters into a boot loop or you’ll receive any other issues, the you have to:

• Close the ODIN application
• Disconnect the smartphone from PC.
• Remove the smartphone’s battery
• Reinsert the battery back into its place after five seconds.
• Repeat the entire step by step rooting guide once again from the start.

If the ODIN application says that the root process is completely done, but the smartphone doesn’t pass the Samsung boot animation, then you need to apply a forced factory Reset. This action will wipe all content and data from the system partition, but it will force the device to boot into normal mode.

• First, remove the device’s battery for seven second.

How manually install Android 4.3 XXUDMJ7 OTA Update to Galaxy Note 3 N9005 LTE:

1. Download Android 4.3 Jelly Bean XXUDMJ7 OTA firmware zip file from here and save it to the PC.
2. Extract the contents of the downloaded zip file and you’ll get a file with “.tar.md5? extension and save the file on your desktop. Do not extract any further than that.
3. Now, download the ODIN 3 application from here, save it to PC and extract the zip content of ODIN file.
4. Turn off the Galaxy Note 3 LTE device now.
5. Boot the device into Download Mode, to do this press and keep holding the Volume Down, Home and Power button simultaneous and release the buttons when the Warning message will be displayed, them press Volume Up to confirm hat you want to boot the device into Download Mode.
6. Open the Odin3 v3.07.exe file on your PC.

9. Click the PDA button from ODIN application.
10. Now, find the extracted “tar.md5? file extracted previously and load it into ODIN.
11. Ensure that Re-Partition option from ODIN is disabled.
12. Do not make any other default ODIN settings.
13. Now, click the Start button from ODIN when you want to begin the flashing process.
14. Just wait without press any other buttons until the flashing process will be completed.
15. When the installation process is done, and the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean XXUDMJ7 is complete flashed, the ODIN application will display the ‘PASS’ message and the Galaxy Note 3 device will get and automatically reboot.
16. Disconnect the Note 3 device from computer by removing its USB cable.
17. Now, wait for it to boot into normal mode.
18. Take the full control over the device and you can now start testing the new Operating System’s function and its all features.

Troubleshooting:

• If the Galaxy Note 3 device isn’t complete the update, and the ODIN application display the FAIL message, then you have to force to remove the device’s battery for seven seconds. Then disconnect the device from PC, close the ODIN application and after that re-insert the smartphone battery. After all these actions repeat the entire step by step guide once again from the beginning.
• If the ODIN application says that the flashing process was successfully completed, but the Note 3 LTE device isn’t capable to go past the Samsung boot animation screen you have to apply a factory reset.

This action will wipe all the data stored into internal device’s memory and the phone’s system partition, but the Note 3 phone will be forced to boot into normal mode. Here’s how to do these actions:

1. Turn off the smartphone by removing its battery.
2. Make sure that the smartphone device is not connected with your computer.
3. Now, after seven seconds have passed reinsert the battery on its location.
4. Boot the Android device (Galaxy Note 3 LTE) into Stock Recovery Mode. To do this press and keep holding the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons in the same time until the Recovery Mode screen will be displayed.
5. From the Recovery Mode menu, select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ and confirm the wipe action.

How to install the CM 11 Android 4.4 KitKat custom ROM firmware on Galaxy Note N7000

1. Download the latest CM 11 Android 4.4 KitKat update file from here and save it in your PC, do not extract (don’t unzip) the same.
2. Download the Google applications pack from here, save it to your PC and don’t extract it.
3. Connect the Galaxy Note N7000 device to the PC by using the USB cable.
4. Now, move the downloaded files from the PC on the Note N7000 device’s SD card.
5. After transferring the downloaded files and the transfer process is complete, disconnect the USB cable from PC.
6. Power off the Note device and boot it into recovery mode, to enter into recovery mode you can use our tutorial from here.
7. From the Recovery mode select “wipe data factory reset” and then “wipe cache partition”.
8. Now, return and select from the main menu of Recovery Mode the “wipe dalvick cache”.
9. Next, return once again to recovery and from there now select “install zip from SD card” and “choose zip from SD card”.
10. Browse and select the transferred CM 11 firmware and install the new custom ROM update on Galaxy Note N7000 device.
11. Next, repeat the same flashing process and for this time install the Google Apps pack.
12. When the installation process is done, from the main menu of Recovery Mode select “reboot system now”.
